discarded rug
i initially thought this was a dead and severely mangled dog. once it registered that the inside of its skin was felt and not bloody flesh, i walked back and observed. definitely a strange site. poor bear.
glass block windows
i hate glass blocks. they're the epitome of bad 80s decorating to me. chicago is practically built with them. they make sense here--they allow in light, but not the roving eyes of nosy neighbors. but man are they ugly!
leaky hydrant
the oh-so-conscious fire department often leaves this hydrant leaking into a coffee can that overflows all over the sidewalk. note, the creepy firefighter head in the window. always. watching.
love the roof line
i'm kind of obsessed with the juxtaposition of the architecture of the buildings here and the stores they hold. i especially like these three store-fronts next to each other.

stick it to me
creating this blog has really forced me to pay more attention to the small things. sure, there are beautiful buildings all over chicago, but i really want to capture the things that are often absorbed as visual noise.
my favorite is the "citizens for boysenberry jam." say what?
